Cancellation is a first-class action in Brand Atlas. It is also reversible up to the moment the subscription ends. Before cancelling, decide whether you want to pause (keep the brand record, stop billing, resume later) or cancel and export (take the record with you and close the account).

Pause instead of cancel

Pause is the right answer when the brand is on hiatus rather than ending. A paused subscription:
  • Keeps the brand record at full fidelity.
  • Disables team and Guest Pass access.
  • Suspends AI features.
  • Stops billing.
Pause is reversible at any time, on the original tier. Open Settings → Billing → Pause subscription. You choose how long to pause for; the default is three months, the maximum is twelve.

Cancel and export

Cancellation closes the subscription at the end of the current billing period. The atlas remains accessible until the period ends. After cancellation:
  • The subscription stops being renewed.
  • Billing stops.
  • Thirty days of grace begin at the end of the current period. During the grace period the atlas is read-only and exportable.
  • At the end of grace, the brand record is deleted in line with Data Retention & Deletion.

How to cancel

1

Open Settings → Billing

Click Cancel subscription at the foot of the page. The portal asks why; the answer is optional but useful for the team.
2

Confirm

Brand Atlas confirms the date the subscription ends. Until then nothing changes. You can reverse the cancellation any time before the end date by clicking Reactivate.
3

Export the brand record

Before the end date, export the brand record. See Export the brand record below for the formats.
4

The subscription ends

On the end date, the atlas enters read-only mode. Team access is disabled. Guest Passes expire. The brand owner can still sign in to export for thirty days.
5

Grace ends

Thirty days after the end date, the brand record is deleted from active systems. Backups age out per the Data Retention & Deletion policy.

Export the brand record

The brand record can be exported at any time, on any tier, by the brand owner. Three formats are offered:
A printable PDF of the current brand record as a single document. Includes every populated standard section and every active Horizon. Useful for handover, archival, and contractual deliverables. This is also the format used for milestone versions.
To export, open Settings → Brand Record → Export. Choose the format and confirm. The export is prepared and emailed to the brand owner’s address; large exports may take a few minutes.

What is in the export

All three formats contain:
  • The eight standard sections, populated.
  • All active and archived Horizons.
  • The brand record’s accountable history within the retention window of the tier.
  • All uploaded assets (logos, images, files) referenced by sections and Horizons.
  • The attribution and dates for every change.
The MDX bundle and JSON record additionally contain machine-readable structure that the PDF cannot.

Cancelling for the wrong reason

Three reasons brand owners cancel that often have a better answer than cancellation:
  1. “I need to pause for a few months.” Use Pause, not Cancel. Pause preserves the brand record and the team.
  2. “I want to step down from Guardian to Keeper.” Downgrade, not cancel. See Upgrading and downgrading.
  3. “I want to leave Brand Atlas but keep the material.” Export first, then cancel. The MDX bundle is reversible.
If your reason for cancelling does not fit any of the above and you would like a conversation about it, write to support@brandatlas.pro and the team will respond.
