# Henry

> Ask questions about your brand, using your own OpenAI or Gemini key.

    </Frame>;
};

**Plans:** Keeper and Guardian.

Henry is your read-only AI companion. Ask him anything about your brand, from your colours to your brand voice, and he answers from what is in your atlas. He never changes anything; for an AI that can, see [Oswald](/guides/oswald). Henry runs on your own OpenAI or Gemini key, so you add one before your first chat.

## Open Henry

1. In the top bar, click the **Henry** button (the small robot icon). Henry's panel opens on the right of the page. It stays open while you move between pages, and closes when you click the same button again or the **Close Henry** cross.

## Add your AI key

The first time you open Henry in a brand, the panel shows **Activate Henry**.

2. Choose your provider: **OpenAI** or **Gemini**.
3. Paste your key into **API key**. An OpenAI key starts with `sk-` and a Gemini key starts with `AIza`.
4. Click **Activate Henry**. Henry checks the key with your provider, then opens the chat.

## Ask about your brand

5. Type your question in **Ask Henry about your brand...** and press Enter. Shift and Enter starts a new line. Henry can see the page you have open, so you can ask about what is in front of you.
6. To have Henry read a file, type **@** followed by part of its name, then pick the file from the list. The list searches the files in your Brand Files. You can mention more than one file in a message.

## Go back to past chats

7. Click **View past conversations** at the top of the chat. **Past chats** lists your conversations, newest activity first. Click one to pick it up again.
8. To start fresh, click **New chat** (the plus icon). To remove a chat, hover over it in **Past chats**, click **Delete conversation**, and confirm.

## Change or remove your key

9. In Henry's panel, click **Henry settings** (the gear icon). This opens **Atlas AI** in your account settings, on the **Henry** section, with one row for each brand you belong to.
10. Click **Change** to save a different provider or key with **Save key**, or **Deactivate** to remove your key for that brand.

## Good to know

* **One key for each brand.** Each brand you belong to keeps its own key, so removing it from one brand leaves your other brands as they are.
* **Your key and your chats are yours.** Your key is stored encrypted and only powers your own chats with Henry in that brand. Your past chats are private to you, and each brand shows only its own.
* **If your key stops working**, for example when it runs out of credit, Henry's panel shows the key form again with a note saying why. Add credit with your provider or enter a new key.
* **Messages** can be up to 4,000 characters.
* Henry can make mistakes. Double-check anything important.

**Next:** [Oswald](/guides/oswald): the AI that can work on your Atlas with you.
