# Getting started

> Make your brand, find your way around the screen and set how your Atlas looks.

export const Screenshot = ({name, alt}) => {
  const SHOW_SCREENSHOTS = true;
  if (!SHOW_SCREENSHOTS) return null;
  return <Frame>
      <img className="block dark:hidden" src={`/images/${name}-light.png`} alt={alt} />
      <img className="hidden dark:block" src={`/images/${name}-dark.png`} alt={alt} />
    </Frame>;
};

**Plans:** Scout, Keeper and Guardian.

Your Atlas is one home for a brand: its story, logo, colours, fonts and voice, in one place your team can work from. This page takes you from a new brand to your first look around, in a few minutes.

## Make a brand

1. Open the brand strip on the far left and press **+** (**New brand**). If you are not in any brand yet, you land on this page when you sign in.
2. Type your brand's name under **Name your brand**. Your address shows underneath, as `app.brandatlas.pro/your-brand`. The address is permanent, so pick the name you will keep. Press **Next**. This makes the brand.

3. Under **Your mark**, add a **Favicon** (SVG, PNG, JPG or WEBP) and a **Wordmark** (SVG only). Drop a file on each box, or click it to choose one. Nothing here is required: skip the favicon and your initial is used, skip the wordmark and your brand name is. Press **Continue**.
4. Under **Your look**, set your colours for the **Dark theme** and the **Light theme**: **Background**, **Foreground** (your text colour), **Stroke** and **Accent**. The page shows each change as you make it.
5. Under **Your preferred theme**, pick **Dark** or **Light**. This choice is yours alone, so everyone on your brand can pick their own.
6. Press **Open my brand**. You arrive on your brand's dashboard.

## Find your way around

* **The sidebar** lists your brand's pages: **About**, then the **Atlas** group (your logo, colours, fonts, voice and more), your **Horizons**, and **Treasures** (**Horizon Dash**, **Brand Files**, **Share Atlas**, **ATLAS.md** and **Playground**). A page your plan does not include shows a lock.
* **The brand strip** sits behind the sidebar. Click your brand's logo at the top of the sidebar to show it. It holds every brand you are in, split into **Owned** and **Joined**, with **+** to make another. At its foot, the gear opens **Account settings**.
* **The top bar** has **Dashboard** on the left. On the right are the looks button, Henry, **Notifications** and a gear for **Brand settings**.
* **The dashboard** shows your brand at a glance: your plan, coins, Horizons, Atlas links and storage across the top, then **Your brand**, **Needs you**, **Share Atlas** and **Brand Files**. While you are new, a getting started band at the top lists what to do next.

## Set how your Atlas looks

1. In the top bar, press the paintbrush button (**How your Atlas looks**).
2. Pick **Light** or **Dark**. This is your own choice for this brand, and nobody else sees it change.
3. Pick a page width: **Normal** or **Wide**.
4. Under **Corners**, pick how round your pages are: **Square**, **Soft**, **Round** or **Extra round**.

## Good to know

* Page width and corners are for the whole brand: everyone in it sees what you pick.
* If you own the brand, **Expand controls** in the same menu opens your brand's colours.
* The looks button shows on wider screens, not on a phone.
* Scout, the free plan, holds one brand. Keeper holds three and Guardian five ([Teams and multiple brands](/guides/teams-and-brands)). When you reach your plan's limit, **+** tells you so, with **See plans** to upgrade, or **Ask for one more** on Guardian.

**Next:** [Connect your AI](/guides/connect-your-ai): let the AI you already use read your Atlas.
