# Connect your AI (MCP)

> Let Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor or VS Code read your Atlas and, if you allow it, edit it.

export const Screenshot = ({name, alt}) => {
  const SHOW_SCREENSHOTS = true;
  if (!SHOW_SCREENSHOTS) return null;
  return <Frame>
      <img className="block dark:hidden" src={`/images/${name}-light.png`} alt={alt} />
      <img className="hidden dark:block" src={`/images/${name}-dark.png`} alt={alt} />
    </Frame>;
};

**Plans:** Scout, Keeper and Guardian.

<Note>
  **Beta.** The MCP is open to accounts in our beta programme while we finish it. You will see a **Beta** badge beside it in the app.
</Note>

An MCP is a way for the AI you already use, like Claude or ChatGPT, to read your Atlas and, if you allow it, edit it. You connect it once with one address. After that it can look up your colours, fonts, voice and pages whenever you ask.

## Connect your AI

1. Click your brand's logo at the top of the sidebar to uncover the brand strip, then choose **MCP** (a plug) at its foot. Settings opens on the **MCP** tab. You can also get there from **Account settings** (the gear below it), then **MCP**.

<Screenshot name="guides/connect-your-ai/mcp-settings" alt="Settings, MCP tab: the explainer and Your address on the left, and the Your AI list on the right with a connected Claude marked Active." />

2. Under **Your address**, choose **Copy address**. The address is the same for everyone:

```text theme={null}
https://app.brandatlas.pro/mcp
```

3. In the **Your AI** list, choose the AI you use to see how to add it. Each one is also below.

<Screenshot name="guides/connect-your-ai/tool-open" alt="The Your AI list with one AI opened to show how to connect it." />

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Claude">
    **In the Claude app:** open claude.ai and go to Customize, then Connectors. Choose Add custom connector. Paste the address and sign in to Brand Atlas when asked.

    **In Claude Code, from your terminal:**

    ```bash theme={null}
    claude mcp add --transport http brand-atlas https://app.brandatlas.pro/mcp
    ```
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="ChatGPT">
    **In the ChatGPT app:** open Settings, then Apps & Connectors, then Advanced settings. Turn Developer mode on, then choose Create. Paste the address and sign in to Brand Atlas when asked. This needs a Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise plan.

    **In Codex, from your terminal:**

    ```bash theme={null}
    codex mcp add brand-atlas --url https://app.brandatlas.pro/mcp && codex mcp login brand-atlas
    ```

    The second half opens Brand Atlas in your browser to sign in.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Gemini">
    **In the Gemini app:** open gemini.google.com and go to Settings, then Connected Apps. Under Custom apps, choose Add a custom app. Paste the address, choose Next, and sign in to Brand Atlas when asked. Google allows this only for personal accounts, 18 or over, in the US.

    **In Gemini CLI, from your terminal:**

    ```bash theme={null}
    gemini mcp add --transport http brand-atlas https://app.brandatlas.pro/mcp
    ```
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Cursor">
    **One click:** [Add to Cursor](cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=brand-atlas\&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL2FwcC5icmFuZGF0bGFzLnByby9tY3AifQ==)
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="VS Code">
    **One click:** [Add to VS Code](vscode:mcp/install?%7B%22name%22%3A%22brand-atlas%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fapp.brandatlas.pro%2Fmcp%22%7D)

    **Or from your terminal:**

    ```bash theme={null}
    code --add-mcp '{"name":"brand-atlas","type":"http","url":"https://app.brandatlas.pro/mcp"}'
    ```
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Another AI">
    If your AI has a place to add an MCP or a custom connector, paste the address there and sign in to Brand Atlas when asked.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

4. When Brand Atlas asks, choose what your AI may do, then choose **Allow**:
   * **Read**: it can read every brand you belong to, every section, page, colour, font and file. This is chosen to start with.
   * **Read and write**: it can also draft and publish pages, and upload files.

5. Check it worked. Ask your AI:

```text theme={null}
Brand Atlas whoami
```

It says hello, names your brands and your plan, and tells you whether it can edit your Atlas. Keep "Brand Atlas" at the start: on its own, "whoami" gets most AIs talking about themselves.

## Things to ask

Ask in plain words and your AI picks the right tool. With **Read**:

* "Tell me what my brand stands for"
* "What fonts do we use?"
* "Give me our brand colours as CSS"
* "Find my logo files"
* "Check this Instagram caption against our brand voice: ..."

With **Read and write**:

* "Draft a new Horizon for our next launch"
* "Update my About page with our new opening hours. Save it as a draft, don't publish it"
* "Save this image to my Brand Files"

What your AI writes is saved as a draft first. You see it in Brand Atlas as unpublished changes, and nothing goes live until it is published.

## Change or revoke a connection

1. Open the **MCP** tab in Settings, the same way as above. Every AI you have connected sits at the top of **Your AI** with an **Active** label, showing when it was connected and when it was last used.
2. To change what it may do, switch it between **Read** and **Read and write**. This applies from your AI's next request.
3. To disconnect it, choose **Revoke**, then **Revoke** again to confirm. Your AI loses access straight away, and has to sign in again to come back.

## Good to know

* A connection works with every brand you belong to, including ones you add later. Tell your AI which brand you mean. With one brand, it never needs to ask.
* With **Read and write**, your AI can also make a new brand, up to your plan's limit, and set the favicon, wordmark and colours of a brand you own.
* If a **Read** connection is asked to change something, it says it is read-only and tells you where to switch it.
* Your AI cannot delete pages, Horizons or files. On **Read and write**, the one thing it can throw away is a page's unpublished draft.
* A Horizon your AI creates counts toward your plan's Horizons, the same as one you make yourself.
